There are so many baby products on the market that it’s hard to know which ones to buy. I know as a first time mom I feel completely overwhelmed deciding which ones to purchase for my little girl. That’s why I decided to start sharing my favorite baby products with you. These are all products that I use on my daughter and that I love. I’ve been breaking these products down by age group. I originally shared my favorites for 0-3 month olds. Today, I am going to share my favorites for 3-6 month olds.
Toys & Learning
Activity Gym – I first talked about the Bright Starts 5 in 1 Your Way Ball Play Activity Gym when I shared my favorite baby products for 0-3 months. I am happy to share that we are still loving this product. Olivia loves playing with all of the different toys. In fact, she will roll across her mat to get whichever one she wants. This is a wonderful toy to invest in for your little one because it grows with them. I love a toy that converts with age because I feel like I am getting more for my money.
Activity Table – Another one of Olivia’s favorite toys is the Skip Hop Explore and More Activity Center. This is another toy that converts with age which is a huge plus for me. It starts as a standard activity center for your baby to sit and play in. It features a 360 degree swivel seat that allows your baby to turn to reach any toy on the table. Another unique feature of this table is the discovery window. This allows your little one to see their feet as they play which helps them learn cause and effect. As your child grows you can convert your activity center into a cruising table and eventually into a play table. Olivia loves playing at in her activity center because of all of the fun toys. I love it because of how well it blends into the decor of our home.
Sit Me Up – Around 4 months Olivia wanted to be sitting up all of the time. She was no longer satisfied with being held or laying down. However, she wasn’t quite strong enough to sit up on her own yet. I had tried using a Bumbo to help support her, but she was always uncomfortable and fussy in it. So, we decided to order the Sit Me Up and we couldn’t be happier. Olivia is well supported and comfortable in this chair. I also love the attachments that it has for various toys.
OBall – Olivia has a lot of toys that she enjoys playing with. However, she has a clear preference for the OBall. I always make sure to keep one in the diaper bag for her to play with. It is so easy for her to grasp and hold onto which is very important. It is also made of a soft and flexible material which my daughter loves because she can manipulate it however she wants to. She is currently loving holding it and sticking her tongue in all of the holes. She is such a goof ball.
Convertible Carseat – We decided to transition our daughter to a convertible carseat when she was 4 months old. We loved her infant carseat and she still fit in it. However, she has reflux and would spit up every time we put her in the carseat. It was recommended to us to switch to a convertible carseat, so we decided to give it a shot. I am so glad we made the switch. She is much more comfortable in the car now. We tried a few different seats before we settled on the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio seat.
We absolutely love this carseat. It is our favorite by far. There are a few things about this seat that stood out to us. First, this seat sits up pretty high so our daughter is able to see out of the windows which she loves. Second, the seat is very compact from front to back so we have plenty of leg room in the front seat. This was very important to us because both my husband and I are fairly tall. Lastly, we love how easy this seat is to install. I wanted something that I could easily and quickly install when my husband was gone if I had to. Out of all of the seats that we tried this was the simplest to install. There are so many things that I love about this carseat I could go on all day.
Backpack Diaper Bag – I have been using a tote style diaper bag since my daughter was born. However, as she gets bigger I am having trouble carrying her and her diaper bag when we are out and about. That’s why I decided to switch to a backpack style diaper bag. I am using the Skip Hop Forma Diaper Backpack.
A big reason that I chose this backpack was because it was a style that both my husband and I would be comfortable carrying. I do love all of the beautiful leather bags, but I knew he would prefer using something like this. This diaper bag contains two storage cubes that fit nicely in the front pocket. The first one I am putting spare clothes in for Liv and the second one is insulated so I am using it for her bottles. This bag is also very spacious so you could use it for multiple children.
Playtex Ventaire Bottles – I’ve shared with you before how much I love Playtex’s Ventaire Bottles. They are great at reducing gas in bottle fed babies. I am happy to share that we are still using this bottle with our daughter. We recently sized up to the 9 oz. bottles and size 2 nipples. Don’t forget to keep those on hand for when it’s time to move your little one up.
Dr. Brown’s Formula Pitcher – I like to prepare all of Olivia’s bottles at one time first thing in the morning. The Dr. Brown’s Formula Pitcher makes doing that so simple. The formula pitcher allows you to make up to 32 oz at one time. It is wonderful at minimizing clumps and air bubbles during the mixing process. The lid of the pitcher even turns into a closed position so you can keep the formula stored in it until you need it. The Dr. Brown’s Formula Pitcher has made this mama’s life so much easier. If you are exclusively formula feeding your baby I highly recommend giving this product a try.
Health & Safety
Humidifier – Having a cool mist humidifier is an absolute must. This is especially true if you live in a dry climate like us. We keep the Crane Cool Mist Humidifier in our daughter’s room and we love it. We run it every night for her. This humidifier features a 1 gallon tank, which is great because it lasts all night even on high. It is also whisper quiet. I can’t hear it at all when it is running. One of my favorite features is that it does not require a filter to run. However, if you do have hard water you can purchase a demineralization filter separately.
Boogie Mist – After Olivia’s awful cold she had this month we added Boogie Mist to our list of medicine cabinet essentials. We have tried using saline drops on her in the past, but we seemed to run through them really quickly and they weren’t really getting the job done. I decided to give this product a shot and I’m so glad I did. I love that it uses a gentle mist rather than drops. I’m able to get her nose much more saturated which makes it easier to clean. We use this along with the two products mentioned below for the ultimate cold fighting combo.
Boogie Wipes – When Olivia had her bad cold I was wiping her nose with a warm washcloth to get all of the dried snot off in the morning. I felt so badly because it was really irritating her skin. Her poor nose was red and chapped. That’s when I turned to Boogie Wipes. They contain natural saline to help dissolve and wipe away little boogies. They also contain aloe, chamomile, and vitamin e to help soothe and moisturize little noses. I love them so much that I keep a pack in our house and in the diaper bag so I’ll always have one.
NoseFrida – I know the thought of sucking snot out of your baby’s nose with your mouth may seem repulsive. Trust me, I’ve been there. I’ve had those exact same thoughts. However, don’t knock this product until you tried it. The NoseFrida Snotsucker is the only nasal aspirator you will ever need. Forget the traditional bulb syringe! This product is 10x stronger and 10x faster at removing your baby’s snot. Not to worry, the snot never actually comes into contact with your mouth. There is a handy little sponge that keeps it in the tube. I highly recommend keeping one of these in your medicine cabinet. You’ll be thanking me when your baby gets their first bad cold.
Aquascale Infant Tub – I originally shared my love for the Aquascale Infant Tub when I talked about my favorite newborn baby products. I love that it has continued to grow with us. Olivia is 6 months old and is still using this tub for every bath. It still fits her very comfortably. We don’t use the thermometer anymore because I feel very comfortable checking the temperature of the water myself now. However, as a nervous new mom this feature was amazing. We do still use the built in scale from time to time. It is nice to check and see how she is growing in between doctors appointments. Soon, we will be converting this into a big girl tub by removing the infant insert.
Honest Company Diapers – I shared with you all that I was using Luvs diapers for Olivia in our favorite 0-3 month products. These are still one of my favorite brands of diapers, but they just weren’t fitting our needs anymore. Our daughter has eczema so we were in need a diaper that was better suited to her sensitive skin. That’s why we decided to start using Honest Company Diapers. Honest Diapers are made without chlorine, bleach, latex, synthetic fragrances, or lotions. They also come in a variety of adorable prints. The best part is that they stand up to our super sleeper. My daughter sleeps 12 hours at night without any wakeups. We use Honest Company Overnight Diapers in one size up and she never leaks through them.
Ubbi Diaper Pail – I’ve shared my love for the Ubbi Diaper Pail with you before and I’m about to do it again. I just love it that much! What makes it so special is that you don’t have to use special trash bags. The bags that you use for your kitchen trash can will work just fine. It also works great at trapping the scent. Just make sure you empty it regularly. We make sure to empty it when it starts to get full and we haven’t had any issues. We’ve been using it for about five months and we still love it.
Video Monitor – I used a traditional sound only monitor for the first few months of Olivia’s life. However, once she became mobile and started rolling I decided I needed a little more. Now I use a video monitor for my daughters room. After a lot of research, I selected the Levana Astra Baby Video Monitor.
I am extremely satisfied with this monitor. It’s equipped with a quiet pan/tilt/zoom feature so I can easily see my daughter no matter where she moves. It also features a two way communication system. So, not only can I hear my daughter, but I can also talk to her if she needs me. The battery life on this monitor is wonderful. I take it off the charger around 7 am each day and I don’t put it back on until about 8:30 pm. It could last even longer in PEEP mode.
Crib Toy – We bought the Baby Einstein Sea Dreams Soother for our daughter’s crib and we love it. It is very helpful at calming her down for naps. She will watch the water and the fish until she finally drifts off to sleep. I love that this toy features a unique drift off feature. The light dims and the volume lowers slowly until it completely shuts off. I also love the little starfish it has on the front to turn it on and off. My daughter loves hitting it to turn it on and off in the morning.
Sound Machine – We purchased the Tranquil Moments Bedside Speaker for our daughter’s room when she was first born. I am so glad that we did. I know I have shared this product with you all a few times, but we are still using this daily so I want to share it again. My daughter absolutely cannot sleep without her sound machine blaring white noise. We use it for all of her naps and for bedtime. My favorite feature of this sound machine is that it doesn’t need to be plugged in to work. We like to put it in the backseat next to her when she gets fussy in the car.
