There is no greater gift in the world than getting to be a mother. Olivia is the biggest blessing in my life and I thank God everyday for giving her to me. Yes, motherhood is filled with ups and downs. However, I wouldn’t trade this for anything. I absolutely love getting to be a mom. Today I am going to share with you 10 reasons why I feel that way. After reading please share in the comments a reason why you love being a mom too!
I have a whole new respect for my body – My body grew my sweet baby girl from scratch. My body provided all of the nutrients she needed during pregnancy to grow big and strong. Then, after she was born my body produced milk perfectly suited to her specific needs. All of the stretch marks just go to prove how hard my body worked for my sweet girl. I couldn’t be more proud of what my body went through and the battle scars I have to prove it.
I feel unconditional love for her and vice versa – I can’t even put into words the love that I felt for my daughter when they handed her to me for the first time. It only goes stronger everyday. Being a parent is full of ups and downs. Olivia isn’t perfect – no child is. However, I can honestly say that each moment with her, even the bad ones, is a blessing. I love every second I get to spend with her.
It is such a wonderful feeling to see the unconditional love she has for her father and I. In her eyes we can do no wrong. Whenever she sees us her eyes light up and a huge smile spreads across her face. It makes my heart so happy every time she does it.
My daughter inspires me to be a better person – I know that my daughter is always watching me. My duty as her mother is to be a good example for her. She has made me a more patient, kind, and understanding person. I look at the world in a whole new way because of her. My baby girl deserves the best possible version of me and I plan on giving her exactly that.
I love to see the pure joy she feels – Nothing warms my heart more than seeing my daughters big gummy smile. It can light up a room. Her silly belly laughs can brighten your entire day. I love seeing the pure joy she feels. Something as small as a goofy face, her favorite song, or seeing her puppy dogs can bring her joy. It really is a beautiful thing.
I have learned to live in the moment – I have always been a planner. It is so important to me have a schedule and a to do list and to make sure everything runs smoothly. However, if Liv has taught me anything it’s that these years go by too quickly. She has shown me how important it is to let the strict schedule go and to just be in the moment with her. She has taught me that the housework can wait until another day because she won’t be this little forever. I want to soak up every second with her that I can now.
I get to watch my daughter grow and learn – Every new milestone she hits is not only a huge deal for her, but it’s also a huge deal for me. It is so exciting watching her develop new skills. I love watching her mind work as she figures something new out for the first time. Everything to her is new and exciting. It’s such an amazing privilege to get to watch that.
Being a mom has given me a whole new respect for my mom – I don’t think I ever fully appreciated what my mother did for me until I became a mother myself. She has been a wealth of knowledge since Olivia was born. I know that whenever I am scared, need advice, or just need a shoulder to lean on I can come to her. I am so glad that I have her with me on this journey. Becoming a mother has made me want to cherish my mother like never before.
I get to put a little bit of good out into the world – It is my responsibility to raise a kind, compassionate, responsible, and hard working person. I spend everyday teaching my daughter those great qualities and more. It is such a privilege that I get to do that. It is such a great honor to get to put a little bit more good out into the world.
I get to watch my husband become a dad – I thought I loved my husband when we got married. However, the way I felt for him then can’t even compare to how I feel now. I love watching him with our little girl. He is a wonderful father. I love watching them play and laugh. I love seeing how nurturing he is with her. One of the greatest gifts of motherhood has been watching my husband begin his journey as a father.
I have a built in cuddle partner – There isn’t a better feeling in the world than sweet baby snuggles. Olivia always wants to cuddle first thing in the morning. It is my favorite part of the day. I could hold her forever. I’m already dreading the day where she is too cool to snuggle with mom.
